Haas Haus

Hey Architecture lovers! I’ll be gone for ten days due to my summer conference, but I’ll start posting again once I am back from my conference. This amazing post-modern building is designed by Australian architect Hans Hollein in 1990. Haas Haus  is a very popular shopping center in Vienna, Austria. I love the overall design of this place!

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

I have a feeling that I’ve done this post before in the past but I couldn’t find it in my blog, but I am just going to post it again just in case. The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum of contemporary and modern art, designed by Frank Gehry. The museum is located in Bilbao, Spain. The museum features many wonderful exhibits of works by Spanish and international artist. For more information about the museum, visit their website at http://www.guggenheim.org/bilbao/

The Great Wall of China

I know I’ve been posting a lot of classic architectures lately, but they are amazingly constructed as well. I will post some modern architectures soon. The Great Wall of China is built along the northern border of China to protect the Chinese Empire against intrusions by various nomadic groups. The Wall was built during the 7th century BC, and was made with stones, bricks, tamped earth, and other materials. The wall is approximately 3,107 miles, which makes it the longest structure in the entire world!

Great Pyramid of Khufu

This is the world’s famous The Great Pyramid of Khufu, or The Great Pyramid of Giza located in Egypt. It is constructed between 2560-2540 BC. It is believed that the pyramid was built as a tomb for pharaoh Khufu. The pyramid is build from approximately 2.3 million limestone blocks, the largest granite stones were found in the King’s chamber; weighing 20-80 tonnes!
